How Not To Monopolize the Conversation during Your Date

There are a lot of things that you can do to make sure that you do not monopolize the conversation during your date. You will need to make sure that you understand what is okay to talk about and what you should keep to yourself. You should also always make sure that you don’t overpower a conversation and cause your date to not be able to get a word in.

Bad Topics

It is never a good idea for you to talk about your ex early on in a relationship. The first few dates should not be ones where you bad mouth your ex or try to say how you and they have remained “friends”. It makes you seem like you are either not over them or like you have anger issues that you need to work out before you get into a new relationship. It is also a good idea to try to avoid discussions that involve a lot of sex as this can end up making your date feel uncomfortable and pressured.

Let Them Talk

It can be really easy to not be able to shut up whenever you are nervous and on a date. You will find that whenever you begin to find your mouth tired from talking that it may be time to be quiet for a little while. Allow your date to speak so that you can get to know him or her. Engaging them in conversation as opposed to controlling it can really help you and your date to see if you both would make a good couple.
